What’s your favourite colour?
My favourite colour is red. 定係 Red is my favourite colour.

There aren't enough chairs for everybody to sit down.
可唔可以話to sit on?

Mary isn’t at home. She has gone away for a few days.
點解係gone away?唔係been away?

1.  「My favourite colour is red」 或 「Red is my favourite colour」意思都一樣,沒有分別。
「is」是「Linking Verb/Link Verb」。
「is」後面的「red」或 「my favourite colour」是「Subject Complement」,不是「Object 賓語/受詞」。
「is」前面的「My Favourite」或 「Red」是「Subject 主語」。

2.  「There aren't enough chairs for everybody to sit down」 跟 「There aren't enough chairs for everybody to sit on」意思都一樣,沒有分別。

3.
A  Mary isn't at home. She has gone away for a few days.
B  Mary isn’t at home. She has been away for a few days.
C  Mary isn’t at home. She is away for a few days.

1. both answers are correct and mean the same.
2. needless to say, chair is used for sitting. so “to sit down” is really unnecessary.
3. don't know what's the difference, but i prefer "been away"

go係action verb, be係relative verb, 兩者唔同的,如果句子需要標明go這個動作咪用gone away.囉。
