I don't need to :P

If i have time, and no work (which is rare, since I can always start new things), i don't stay in my office. I work mostly at home anyway.

you guys can browse internet as you want?
not afraid colleagues or boss find out?

As my seat is next to the supervisor, he will pass through my seat to go to pantry very often.....it's not safe to browse internet very openly......:smile_45:

Nope. First, i am an academic. There is really no "boss" in the sense that no one tells you what to do, particularly in your research. Now, you are evaluated by your productivity, but that means result. No one cares what you do exactly this minute, or next.

In addition, i have my own office and I can always just close the door. Lastly, if i don't want to (except for classes or meetings), i don't even go into the office.

Personally, i think workers should be managed by objective. Monitoring every single minute, treating them like children, is just inefficient, and probably counter-productive anyway. It is just like i have few TAs working for me. I really don't care if they work during the day, or during the night, as long as they complete their work on time, and the work is high quality.

i see, your field nature is quite free.
Lots of employee like me, not in supervisor grade, just a small potato working in a private company, hard to say freedom.

I will do some online training in my field. My profession requires 40 hours of continual education every year. I normally attend the web seminar on the certification authority web site.
